Sea Fishing

Sea fishing encompasses many different angling techniques, providing a real test of skill for any angler whatever their experience. This is especially true in Northumberland, which by virtue of its long, beautiful, and dramatic coastline is better equipped than many other locations for sea fishing.

Beaches, coves, cliffs and other wonderful natural landscapes form a superb backdrop to some first class fishing and there are charming seaside towns and fishing villages too, which offer a picturesque setting and convenient casting points. Boat fishing provides a further option, either close to the shore for a fun angling experience or out to deep sea for the real sea fishing enthusiast.

There are ample opportunities for beach casting from beautiful bays such as Newton, Beadnell, Alnmouth and Druridge with Plaice, Mackerel and Bass the key catches. Alternatively, match some superb fishing with remarkable cliff top views at Newbiggin by the Sea or Cullernose Point. Rocky outcrops can provide great casting points too and the best of these are found at Amble, Craster, Hauxley and Cresswell. These are just some of the ways to indulge in some sea fishing without leaving the shore with further options provided by pier fishing at locations such as and Blyth, Craster, and Amble.

Chartered fishing boats are available from the ports and fishing villages of Northumberland, with numerous sea fishing trips available from Berwick and Seahouses. There are options too for those who simply want to try their hand with little prior experience with all tuition, fishing and safety equipment provided. Whatever your sea fishing pleasure the great thing about Northumberland is the stunning views and incredible rural landscapes which dominate the area along the coast and inland. Looking out to sea is special wherever you are on the coast and taking a boat trip allows for a whole new perspective on the coastal attractions.

Fishing is of course just one of the many ways in which to spend some outdoor leisure time in Northumberland and many people will choose to combine some first class fishing with some golf or family oriented adventure activities. For others it will be all about the fishing and just like there are golf holidays and adventure holidays, there are fishing holidays and they represent the best way to get all the information and services to make the most from any memorable fishing trip to Northumberland.
