There is just something about lakeside living which appeals to the outdoor adventurer in all of us. The only decisions to make are the types of adventure to choose and whether out for a gentle stroll or some fishing amidst the sounds of trickling water and the rustle of the trees or a full scale assault on cycle or seascooter.

Thankfully, whatever you choose to do, one of the well-equipped and full of character Scandinavian style Kielder Lodges provides the perfect base from which to do it. Situated within Leaplish Waterside Park, just a part of the huge Kielder Water and Forest Park in Northumberland, it is a rural haven where the natural world in all its splendour meets a range of fun-packed activities for all the family.

The 27 mile shoreline, heather moorland and pine forest makes the perfect setting for Kielder Lodges and it is a getting back to nature approach which has resulted in a gold award for conservation. There are 7 lodge types available to sleep from 4 to 6 persons, some of which have wheelchair access and all with an impressive range of amenities including such features as fully fitted kitchens, TV, DVD, whirlpool baths, and verandas.

Prices start from just £399 per week. Travel cots and highchairs can be provided at a charge of £10 per week each and pets can stay too in specific lodges for £30 per week.

On site facilities for guests are impressive. There is an indoor heated pool, outdoor synthetic skating rink, minigolf, indoor activity centre, sauna, coffee shop and restaurant, and children's adventure playground.

Activities on offer include archery, crossbow, fencing, lake cruises and pleasure boat hire, and of course fishing from April 1st right through till October 31st. A range of special deals and standard saver options are available, contact Kielder Lodges for further information.
